There is an excess of end of life tyres with limited economic value, these tyres must be processed as landfill is now illegal. There are more than 180 million stockpiled waste tyres in Europe and 150 million in the USA alone. Recycling produces granulated and crumb rubber which can be processed and moulded into various products for sale into local markets, recovered steel can be sold for reuse and the remaining textile materials can be used to make carbon black.
